The Sandweier hunting lodge (hunting house) was built by Margrave Ernst Friedrich von Baden-Durlach in 1602 during the Upper Baden Occupation as a stately hunting and resting house. The year on the portal names the building; the stonemason also worked on the Wolkenstein cellar in Gernsbach.
