Hunting Castle Schorndorf
Jagdschloss Schorndorf is located in the town of Schorndorf, in the Rems-Murr district of Baden-Württemberg. It was built as a ducal building and now functions as a tax office.
History+
Duke Christoph commissioned the construction of the hunting lodge in 1555. It was also originally known as the “New Castle.” Initially, it was the residence of the chief bailiff, before being occupied by a tax official from 1755. From 1810, King Friedrich used the building as a hunting lodge, as he valued the surrounding forests for hunting. Later, from 1817, it housed the forestry office, before becoming the seat of the tax office.
