Jesuiten Castle

The origins of the Jesuit Castle date back to 1635, when the Schnewlin-Bernlapp von Bollschweil family gifted the estate to the Jesuits, who had been active at the University of Freiburg since 1620. A plaque above the entrance dates the construction of the manor house to 1666, although historians cast doubt on this year. Following the dissolution of the Jesuit order in 1773, the Schnewlin-Bernlapp family repurchased the castle for 66,000 guilders.
