Cultural Events

The Jonas Schlössle is a remarkable example of a stately Renaissance residence in the Lake Constance region. It is located in the center of Götzis in Vorarlberg, Austria, and today serves as a versatile venue for cultural events.

History+

The exact history of the Jonas Schlössle's construction is only partially documented. Dendrochronological examinations of wooden beams during a renovation starting in 2001 revealed that the oak timbers used for construction were felled between 1582 and 1584. It is believed that construction began around 1584 by Leonhard Jonas II. After his death around 1590, there was likely a construction interruption before work resumed around 1595. The completion, including the magnificent wooden ceiling and wall paneling in the ballroom on the second floor, occurred approximately 50 years after construction began. The year numbers on the east side of the Schlössle were only added in 1884. Its absence from the Emser Chronicle of 1616 is surprising given the building's significance.

Location+

The Jonas Schlössle is situated at an elevation of approximately 437 meters above sea level in the heart of Götzis, a municipality in the Feldkirch district of Vorarlberg, Austria.

On site+

Following an extensive renovation between 2001 and 2004, the Jonas Schlössle is now used as an event venue. It hosts readings, chamber concerts, exhibitions, seminars, and conferences. On the ground floor, a sandstone column bearing the Jonas family crest can be seen.
