Julius-Echter-Church
The Julius Echter Church is a Roman Catholic church in Schönau an der Brend. It stands on the Kirchberg and was built in 1608. In autumn 2008, the church's 400th anniversary was celebrated with a large ceremony. Named after the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg, Julius Echter, the church is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and is equipped with altars from Bildhausen Monastery.
There is a cemetery, which is divided into an old and a new part. There is also a mortuary. The new cemetery contains urn graves, a large cross, and a monument for local residents who died in both World Wars.
The church is part of the Kreuzberg-Bischofsheim parish association. At the foot of the Kirchberg stands the monument to Otto Feick, the co-inventor of the Rhönrad.
