Kanonissenstift Böddeken, später Augustinerchorherren

The origins of Böddeken Monastery date back to the year 863, when it was founded as a collegiate church for canonesses. Over the centuries, the institution evolved and was later taken over by Augustinian Canons. This religious community shaped the monastic life and spiritual direction of the collegiate church until its dissolution. In 1803, secularization occurred, causing the monastery to lose its function as a religious institution. The collegiate church's dedication honored several saints, including Mary, Liborius, John the Baptist, and Meinolf, which underscores the theological breadth of its veneration.

The former monastery is situated within the municipality of Paderborn in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This geographical placement positions it within a historically and culturally rich landscape of Germany.

Following secularization in 1803, the use of the monastic complex fundamentally changed. The current condition and present use are not detailed, but the preserved structures bear witness to the former significance of the collegiate church.
