The former Canonesses' Collegiate Church of Reistingen, situated in a district of Ziertheim in Bavaria, represents a historical ensemble whose origins date back to the 13th century. It stands as a testament to medieval sacred architecture and ecclesiastical history in the region.

History+

The foundation of Reistingen Monastery occurred before 1250, established by the Counts of Dillingen. Initially, it was likely a Benedictine monastery, which became established by the mid-13th century. During the course of the 13th or 14th century, it transformed into a collegiate church for canonesses. In the 14th century, the monastery was consecrated to Saint Peter; today, it is dedicated to Saints Peter and Vitus. In 1450, the collegiate church was dissolved by order of Pope Nicholas V, with its assets being transferred to the episcopal mensa of Augsburg. A portion of the resulting income was used by the bishop in 1465 for the acquisition of liturgical books for his court chapel in Dillingen.
