Karmelitenkloster Dinkelsbühl

The monastery, dedicated to Saint Catherine, was founded in 1290 by Carmelites from Würzburg. They established the complex on land that was once a Staufer manor at a ford of the Wörnitz river. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1803. The former monastery buildings subsequently served various purposes, including a brewery, a salt warehouse, an Evangelical children's asylum, and a girls' secondary school. In 1812, the Evangelical parish acquired the monastery grounds, including the church. The original church was demolished in 1839, and a new Protestant main church in the Neoclassical style was built on its foundations between 1840 and 1843. This church was consecrated on November 19, 1843. Since 1924, the house of worship has borne the name St. Paul.

The Carmelite Monastery is located in the city of Dinkelsbühl, within the Bavarian administrative district of Ansbach, Germany.

The former monastery buildings now house the community center of the Evangelical-Lutheran parish, the Evangelical St. Paul kindergarten, and the Vocational School for Music of the Middle Franconia district. The St. Paul Church, built on the foundations of the old monastery church, serves as the main Evangelical church.
