Herrgottskloster Nördlingen

The monastery, dedicated to the Holy Savior, was founded in 1401 by the city of Nördlingen. The patronage and right of presentation belonged to the Heilsbronn Monastery. The monastery church was consecrated in 1422, and its high altar dates from 1497. In the course of the Reformation, the monastery was dissolved in 1564. The last prior, Castulus Leitz, who led the Nördlingen branch from 1538 and died in 1564, had already in 1562 ceded the monastery with all its possessions and revenues to the city in exchange for an annual pension payment. After its dissolution, the former monastery church first served as a Protestant house of worship and later as a military hospital. Since 1825, it has been the Catholic parish church of St. Salvator and underwent reconstruction between 1826 and 1829.

The Carmelite Monastery is located in Nördlingen, a city in the Donau-Ries district of Bavaria, Germany.
