The Carmelite monastery in Hirschhorn was founded in the year 1406. For centuries, the Carmelite order shaped the spiritual life at this location. The monastery was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Saint Anne, and Saint Joseph. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1803, bringing an end to its monastic use after nearly 400 years.
