The Carmelite Monastery in Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a contemplative Catholic monastery of the Discalced Carmelites. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, it remains an active site of monastic life.

History+

The monastery was founded by the Cologne Carmel Maria vom Frieden. In 1902, a plot of land was acquired on Kölner Landstraße in Düren, and construction of the monastery began. The sisters moved into the new building on August 24, 1903, and the monastery church was consecrated six days later. In 1905, the high monastery wall and the bell tower were erected. In the same year, the city of Düren gifted the Carmelites a crucifixion group, which had previously stood on Kölnplatz and is now listed as monument no. 121.
