South of Eindhoven, Kasteel Heeze once served as the center of the seigneury of Heeze, Leende, and Zesgehuchten. Its history is marked by uncompleted building plans and an unusual legacy.

History+

In the Middle Ages, the estate was owned by the de Horne family. In the 17th century, a new construction began according to Pieter Post's designs, with the first part erected in 1665. After Post's death, his son Maurits continued the work. However, high costs for importing building materials led to the premature halt of the original design's construction, which was never completed. The part of the castle used today was actually intended as the servants' quarters, while the main part was to be built behind the first courtyard.
