Kasteel Rijnhuizen

Castle Rijnhuizen is located in Nieuwegein in the province of Utrecht. Already in the 14th Century there was a castle here. 1436 the castle was owned by Johan van Rijn. After his death in 1468 the property transferred to his son Adrian and 1497 to his son Dirk. 1528 the castle was destroyed and later rebuilt. The last of the family van Rijn died in 1607 with Johanna. 1620 was sold the castle to Hendrik van Tuyll of Serooskerken. His grandson Reynoud van Tuyll of Serooskerken was in 1640 built the present castle.
