In the Belgian province of East Flanders, the Kasteel van Boelare once served as the focal point of the feudal domain of Land and Barony of Boelare.

History+

The first documented mention of the name Boelare dates back to the 11th century, although the domain's existence is likely even older. There are indications suggesting a first castle in Boelare as early as the 9th century. However, the current castle buildings in their present form date from 1605. On July 1, 1987, the Kasteel van Boelare was recognized as a national heritage site by the Belgian government and placed under monument protection.
