St. Paul's Cathedral in Tirana is a prominent sacred building and serves as the main church of the Archdiocese of Tirana-Durrës. Dedicated to the Apostle Paul, who is considered the founder of the Christian community in Durrës, it stands out for its modern architecture and symbolic design.
History+
The cathedral's history begins with the relocation of the episcopal see from Durrës to Tirana and the establishment of the new archdiocese in 1992. The Albanian state provided the building plot to the Catholic Church free of charge, a gesture associated with Pope John Paul II's visit to Albania in 1993. The foundation stone was laid in November 1994, but construction work spanned several years. The work was finally completed around the year 2000, and the solemn inauguration of the cathedral took place on January 26, 2002. It replaced the Sacred Heart Cathedral, which had been in operation since 1938.

St. Paul's Cathedral is located in the heart of the Albanian capital, Tirana, in the Tirana district, at an elevation of approximately 116 meters above sea level. It is situated on Boulevard Zhan D'Ark, which stretches along the Lana River.
