Kerßenbrock Castle

The origins of the castle date back to Anna von Canstein, who began construction in 1576 after the death of her husband, the mercenary leader Franz von Kerßenbrock. The large archway leading into the courtyard was built as early as 1577. Shortly thereafter, in 1580, the tithe house on Obere Straße was erected. The central manor house, a two-story building with three corner towers, was completed between 1584 and 1588 according to designs by the Hameln master builder Eberhard Wilkening.
