Kettelersche Palace

The Kettelersche Kurie on Domplatz in Münster was built from 1712 to 1716 by the master builder Lambert Friedrich Corfey. The patron was Vicar General Nikolaus Hermann von Ketteler zu Harkotten, who decided in 1711 to erect a curia on his property. The building still belongs to the episcopal vicariate general and is used as an archive. In the immediate vicinity of the Episcopal Palace, it forms a magnificent ensemble on the Domhof.

Previously, Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius had also submitted a plan, which was not executed but became the basis for Lambert Friedrich Corfey's planning. The two-story, three-wing complex of brick and sandstone has an eave height of 10.45 m. It encloses a horseshoe-shaped courtyard of honor (Cour d'honneur), which is blocked by a large gate. The building has a bipartite structure: two outdoor staircases lead into the central wing, but they do not destroy the axial symmetry.

In the gable of the central risalit are the coats of arms of the Ketteler and von Schade families.
