Church of the Holy Saviour
The Church of the Holy Saviour, a 17th-century edifice, is located in the town of Nessebar, Bulgaria. Although small, it features wall paintings depicting scenes from the Life of Christ and the Holy Virgin.
History+
The house of worship was constructed in 1609. It consists of a single nave and apse, measuring 11.70 meters in length and 5.70 meters in width. The early 17th-century frescoes include a depiction of the Virgin Platytera in the apse. The tombstone of the Byzantine princess Mataissa Cantacuzina, once located here, is now housed in the Nessebar Archaeological Museum.
