Die Kirchenburg+

In this town, the smallest, beautifully renovated fortified church in the district of Kitzingen can be admired. The entire complex, like many fortified churches, is situated on a hill at the edge of the village with the entrance facing the village. The Romanesque church tower from around 1200 is massively built and features loopholes. It was only slightly higher than the nave. From it, the particularly vulnerable entrance could be defended. A fortified wall protected the Church of St. Martin and the small residential and storage houses of the village families in times of danger.

The annual market on the Sunday before St. James' Day commemorates the market rights.
