Lienzingen Churchcastle

The churchcastle can be visited

The first church in Lienzingen is mentioned in a document in 1186. The current St. Peter's Church is still part of the very well-preserved fortified complex, with which the construction of a ring wall, the associated Gaden (church chambers or fruit storage chambers) and thus the expansion into a refuge castle began around 1400. According to tradition, the stone material is said to have come from the ruins of the "Alte Burg" (Old Castle) on the Burgberg near Schützingen. The previously Romanesque St. Peter's Church was rebuilt in the late Gothic style at the end of the 15th century.
