Aura Church (Ruin)

The Aura ruin is a church ruin in the valley of the Franconian Saale on the southern foothills of the Rhön.
The Aura ruin rises in the district of Bad Kissingen between the municipalities of Bad Kissingen and Aura an der Saale on a small hill next to the village of the same name.
From 1618, the church was commissioned as a pilgrimage church by the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Johann Gottfried I von Aschhausen. However, due to the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War and the death of the patron, the church was never completed.
The complex is to be distinguished from Aura Monastery.
