The Kleines Palais in Meiningen is a Neoclassical residence from the 19th century. It once served the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen as a summer palace.

History+

Duke Bernhard II commissioned the construction of the Kleines Palais starting in 1821. Originally conceived as a summer residence, it became the permanent home of the ducal couple after his marriage to Marie of Hesse-Kassel in 1825. In 1863, the ducal family moved to the renovated Großes Palais, after which the Kleines Palais saw various uses. Even after the end of the Duchy in 1918, the building remained in the possession of the House of Saxe-Meiningen until 1946. In 1923, it was converted into a bank building for the Thüringer Staatsbank.
