In the northeast of Potsdam, in Babelsberg Park, one finds the Small Palace. Originally a garden house on the shore of Lake Tiefer See, it was transformed into a structure and now serves as a restaurant.

History+

The origins of the Small Palace date back to 1833/1834, when it was first renovated according to designs by Ludwig Persius. A second transformation took place in 1841/1842, also under Persius's direction, who implemented Princess Augusta's specifications in the English Tudor Gothic style. The white building served as a residence for the later Emperor Frederick III, even after his marriage. Later, it accommodated ladies-in-waiting and guests.
