Kloster Alexanderdorf, a Benedictine abbey, is a women's monastery in Brandenburg. Located in Alexanderdorf, a district of the municipality of Am Mellensee, it is the only post-Reformation Benedictine monastery in the region.

History+

The origins of Kloster Alexanderdorf date back to 1919, when nurses in Berlin came together to practice church liturgy alongside their professional work. This community was recognized in 1924 as the St. Hildegard Sisterhood. In 1934, after the closure of Berlin hospitals, the sisters moved to the Mark Brandenburg. They founded Kloster St. Gertrud in a former manor house in Alexanderdorf. In the subsequent war and post-war years, the sisters adapted the farm buildings to their needs.
