Au Abbey

The origins of the monastery date back to around 780, when the monks Baldung and Hrodbert founded an initial cell. In 1122, Archbishop Konrad I of Salzburg officially established an Augustinian canons' collegiate church, dedicated to St. Mary, St. Felicitas, and St. Vitalis. The secularization in 1803 led to the dissolution of the monastery. The culturally significant church, designed by Domenico Christoforo Zuccalli, became a parish church, while the monastic buildings passed into private ownership. A portion of the monastic library, 605 books, was transferred to the University Library in Landshut.
