Aufhausen Priory

The foundation of Kloster Aufhausen occurred in 1676. It was dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows and initially managed by the Congregation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri. During the secularization in Bavaria, the monastery remained in existence and bore the title “Royal Nerian Institute” until 1829. After the death of the last provost in 1886, Benedictines from Metten Abbey took over the buildings and established a priory, which existed until 1978. Since 2006, the monastery has once again been a branch, initially of the Brothers of the Holy Blood, from whom the Congregation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri in Aufhausen emerged in 2012.

Kloster Aufhausen is situated in the village of Aufhausen, near the city of Regensburg in Bavaria. It lies at an elevation of approximately 392 meters above sea level.

Today, the former monastery once again houses a branch of the Congregation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri. Additionally, the Handmaids of the Holy Blood are located there, which are organizationally independent and form a public association of canonical law.
