The Bois-Grolland Abbey (Notre-Dame du Bois-Grolland; Brolium Groland) is a former Cistercian monastery in the commune of Poiroux in the Vendée department, Pays de la Loire region, in France. It is located about 21 km southwest of La Roche-sur-Yon and 20 km east of Les Sables-d’Olonne.
History+
The monastery was founded in 1109 by the Lord of Poiroux, Aimeric de Bouille, as a Benedictine monastery for Benedictines from Moreilles Abbey and joined the Cistercian order around 1201. It belonged to the filiation of the primary abbey of Clairvaux. The Cistercians expanded the monastery and brought it to prosperity. In 1275, it participated in the drainage of the Moricq marsh. Later, the monastery fell into commendam. During the Wars of Religion, the monastery was plundered in 1574. Afterwards, it joined the Observance of La Trappe and was rebuilt. During the French Revolution, the monastery, still inhabited by four monks, was dissolved. From 1807 to 1815, it housed an Ursuline establishment. Afterwards, it became an agricultural enterprise.

The abbey church is a "ruin hidden by ivy" (Peugniez). The 17th-century convent buildings have been converted into a residential building.
