Bonlanden Monastery serves as the motherhouse for the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady. It is located in Bonlanden, a district of Berkheim in the Biberach district.

History+

The foundation stone for the monastery in Bonlanden was laid in 1855, initiated by Pastor Faustin Mennel. In November of the same year, the first candidates moved into the new monastery. Co-founders included Franciscan Sisters from Dillingen, whose tradition dates back to 1241. The ecclesiastical recognition of Bonlanden Monastery's independence was granted in 1859. Today, it is the motherhouse of approximately forty branches worldwide, with a focus on South America, particularly Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.
