Kloster Brandenburg (Dietenheim-Regglisweiler)

The monastery's origin dates back to a vow made by Franciscan Father Rochus Schamoni, who aimed to establish a women's monastery in honor of the Immaculate Conception. With the support of well-meaning individuals, the association “Erholungsheim Schloß Brandenburg” was founded in 1927, acquiring Brandenburg Castle. Two years later, in 1929, Father Schamoni laid the cornerstone for the future religious community by electing Maria Theresia Hecht as superior. Under her leadership, the monastery, initially founded on debt, was financially stabilized. The official establishment of the order took place in 1933 when Maria Theresia Hecht and five other sisters took their vows. The community, later named the Immaculate Sisters of the Seraphic Apostolate, founded its first branch in Heimenkirch as early as 1933. Despite difficult circumstances and the rise of National Socialism, St. Johann Children's Home was established in 1935, followed later by St. Christoph Special School for mentally and physically disabled children in Zußdorf. After World War II, further social institutions were created, including an auxiliary school for refugee children in Gutenzell (1946) and in 1950, St. Konrad in Haslach, a home for mentally disabled adults with workshops. The Gutenzell facility was later moved to Heudorf am Bussen and expanded to include the Edith-Stein-Schule. In 1994, the St. Maria nursing home for seniors opened in Regglisweiler, and in 2002, a retreat and conference center was built. At the end of 2005, the sisters founded the Theresia-Hecht-Stiftung to transfer their social institutions into non-profit GmbHs and ensure their continued existence in the spirit of the foundress. The proclamation of the Gospel, a central task of the community, is now primarily carried out in the retreat and conference center.

Kloster Brandenburg is located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, at an elevation of approximately 529 meters above sea level.

The oldest preserved buildings of the monastery date from 1960. The community of the Immaculate Sisters of the Seraphic Apostolate currently operates a retreat and conference center and, through the Theresia-Hecht-Stiftung, various social institutions.
