Ebersberg Abbey
Ebersberg Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery in Ebersberg, Bavaria, in the Archdiocese of Freising.
The monastery, dedicated to Saint Mary and Saint Sebastian, was founded in 934 by Eberhard and Adalpero, Counts of Sempt. From 934 to 1013 it was a collegiate church of Augustinian canons, and from 1013 to 1595 a Benedictine monastery. The monastery was dissolved in 1595 by Pope Clement VIII and the buildings were handed over to the Jesuits. In 1773, the Knights of Malta took over the complex. In 1808, the monastery buildings partially passed into state ownership and partially into private ownership.
Today, the monastery buildings house the tax office and two supermarkets.
