Ermita de Sant Honorat

The Ermita de Sant Honorat is one of three monasteries on Puig de Randa on the Balearic island of Mallorca. Leaving the village of Randa, which belongs to Algaida, on the road leading up the mountain (Calle de Cura, MA-5018), after about 2.3 km you come to a path that branches off at a sharp angle on the right side. Following it, after a few meters you stand in front of the monastery.

In 1394, after living as a hermit on Mount Randa for 30 years, Knight Arnau Desbrull asked the Bishop of Mallorca for permission to build a chapel at this spot in honor of Sant Honorat. Due to its poor condition, the old church was replaced in 1670 by the new one, which still stands today. Only a stone tablet inside above the entrance portal remains of the original house of worship. The monastery behind it was founded in 1890 by some brothers of the "Missioneros de los Sagrados Coracones".

Apart from the church, the grounds are not open to unannounced visitors. Sant Honorat, now inhabited by only a few retired friars, today offers space and accommodation, especially for seminar groups. There are two seminar rooms and rooms for around 22 participants.
