Ettenheimmünster Abbey

The existence of Ettenheimmünster Monastery is documented from after 734. It was founded as a Benedictine abbey and existed for many centuries. After the wars of the 17th century, the complex underwent a Baroque renewal in the early 18th century and experienced a brief period of prosperity. In 1803, the monastery was dissolved as part of the secularization and its property was transferred to the Baden state. The buildings were subsequently sold and demolished over the course of the 19th century, so that today only a few ruins of the original monastery remain.

Ettenheimmünster Monastery was situated in the Ortenau region of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, at an elevation of approximately 205 meters above sea level. It was located about 500 meters east of the current parish church in the village of Ettenheimmünster.

Today, only a few ruins of the former monastic complex remain. The pilgrimage and parish church of St. Landelin, located in the village, was never the monastery church but serves the community as a place of worship.
