Frauental Abbey

The Frauental Monastery was founded in 1232 by Konrad and Gottfried von Hohenlohe-Brauneck, who resided at the nearby Brauneck Castle. At its inception, the nunnery encompassed approximately 600 hectares of land, which was later expanded. After the extinction of the noble line in 1390, the monastery came into the possession of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The monastery suffered destruction in May 1525 during the Peasants' War, when it was plundered and set on fire, with most of the complex, including the high altar of the monastery church, being destroyed. In 1548, Frauental was secularized.

The former monastery is located in Creglingen-Frauental in the Main-Tauber district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 304 meters above sea level.
