Geistingen Abbey

The founding of Kloster Geistingen was initiated by the Lower German Province of the Redemptorists, as the Trier monastery became too small for the planned college. In 1902, the order acquired land in Geistingen, and following approvals from the archdiocese and the Prussian government, the foundation stone was laid on March 19, 1902. Cologne architect Theodor Roß oversaw the construction, which was to include a monastery with a church and a college for 40 monastic students. The first wing was ready for occupancy by August 1903, and the monastery was consecrated on September 8, 1903.
