History+
The origins of the site date back to 1009, when Bishop Meinwerk of Paderborn established an episcopal estate there. Later, in 1036, he transferred lands in this area to the Busdorf Collegiate Church. The monastery was founded at Pentecost in 1140 by Bishop Bernhard I of Paderborn as a daughter monastery of Kamp. The first abbot, Daniel, arrived with twelve monks. After the acquisition of land and initial construction work, the monastery church was consecrated in 1165 and the monastery was elevated to an abbey.
