Monastery operation

The Haus Maria im Venn monastery in the southwestern Stolberg district of Venwegen in the Aachen city region has been the motherhouse of the Order of the Christenserinnen since September 16, 1973. The order also maintains the Home of the Good Samaritan as a daughter house in Unterstolberg. It is located south of the village at the edge of the forest and was built between 1970 and 1974. On November 30, 1974, the consecration of the new monastery church was celebrated by diocesan bishop Dr. Johannes Pohlschneider. A senior citizens' center with 139 places for all denominations, a kindergarten, an indoor swimming pool, and a gymnastics room are attached to the monastery. It has a resident chaplain.

The interior of the church, a rosary depiction in the choir, the ambo, the altar, and the tabernacle, were created by the Kohlscheid goldsmith Peter Bücken. The windows, decorated with ornaments, are by the glass artist J. Beek from Nettetal. Both Catholic and Protestant services are held there.
