The Komturhof Monastery in Utterode, located in the Nordhausen district of Thuringia, was once a commandery of the Knights Templar.

History+

In the 13th century, the Knights Templar acquired property in Thuringia through donations and purchases, including the settlement of Guthenrode on the edge of the Dün near Bleicherode. A commandery was built here, of which remnants of a Romanesque chapel were still visible in the 19th century. After the dissolution of the Knights Templar from 1307 onwards, their possessions, by order of Pope Clement V, passed to the Order of St. John.
