Kloster Mainburg

The foundation of Kloster Mainburg took place in 1893 by the Discalced Carmelites, who managed it until 1917. They were succeeded by the Capuchins from 1918 to 1978. A new era began in 1981 with the settlement of the Paulines, who returned from Częstochowa and established their first modern foundation in Germany here. The current monastery church of St. Salvator was already built in 1723 on the site of an older church. The Stations of the Cross on Salvatorberg were erected in 1854, and the Stations of the Cross group in front of the church was added in 1882. A staircase with 176 steps, originally from 1909, connects the Stations of the Cross and was restored in 2008.

Kloster Mainburg is located in Mainburg, a town in the district of Kelheim in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 454 meters above sea level.

Currently, the monastery is inhabited and managed by five Paulines. They are engaged in pastoral care for the surrounding parishes, continuing the monastery's long tradition as a spiritual center. The entire complex is protected as an architectural monument.
