The former Meyendorf estate was first mentioned in a deed of gift from 1192 as being in the possession of the Archbishop of Magdeburg. In 1261, Heinrich and Gebhard von Gronenberg, servants of the Archbishop of Magdeburg, founded a Cistercian convent in Meyendorf.
