Kloster Möningerberg
The Möningerberg Monastery, a historic sacred building in Bavaria, was founded in 1452. It was an important site for the Franciscan order and is situated at an elevation of approximately 513 meters above sea level.
History+
The establishment of Möningerberg Monastery in 1452 was initiated by Saint John Capistran and Count Palatine Otto I. Initially founded as a hospice for the Observants, it later evolved into a convent. It belonged to the Bavarian Custody of the Upper German Franciscan Province of Argentina. Following the introduction of the Reformation in Freystadt in 1546, the monastery was dissolved in 1556. Today, only traces of the original complex remain.
