Neuenwalde Convent

Kloster Neunwalde, a historic sacred building in Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, represents a significant cultural monument. The complex, situated approximately 8 meters above sea level, bears witness to its medieval foundation and subsequent transformations that shaped its architecture and function over the centuries.
History+
The origins of the monastery date back to 1201, when its precursor was founded in Midlum. Following the Reformation and the destruction of the Thirty Years' War, the monastery was rebuilt. In 1683, King Karl XI of Sweden transferred the monastery to the knighthood of the Duchy of Bremen-Verden to provide for unmarried daughters as conventuals.
