Oelinghausen Abbey (Arnsberg)

The founding of Oelinghausen Monastery took place in 1174. Initially conceived as a double monastery, it later developed into a pure Premonstratensian convent. In the 17th century, it was converted into a secular women's collegiate foundation, but returned to the Premonstratensian Order after a few decades. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1804. The monastery church, dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Mary, has since served as a parish church.
