Prediger Abbey

The convent of the preaching friars was incorporated into the order in 1294, with the establishment of the branch in Schwäbisch Gmünd likely occurring in the same year from Esslingen. A Gothic church was built in the mid-14th century and completed around 1356. In the 18th century, specifically from 1724, an extensive reconstruction of the monastery took place under the direction of Dominikus Zimmermann. The Baroque transformation of the monastery church began in 1762 and was completed in 1764 under Johann Michael Keller the Younger.
