Reichenau Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery on Reichenau Island in Lake Constance, is one of the monasteries of the Carolingian era. Founded in 724, it now houses the municipal administration of Reichenau. The abbey's illuminated manuscripts were inscribed in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in 2003.

The founding of Reichenau Abbey took place in 724 by the missionary bishop Pirminius in Alamannia. Under Abbot Waldo, it developed into a Carolingian abbey, supported by Frankish rulers. The monastery experienced its first golden age in the late 8th and 9th centuries, during which the Reichenau scholarly school was established and structures like the Minster of St. Mary were built. The Reichenau Confraternity Book and the St. Gall Plan were created here in the 9th century.
