Kloster Reisach of the Discalced Carmelites is located in the municipality of Oberaudorf in the Bavarian foothills. Originally built in the 18th century, it features Baroque architecture.

History+

The monastery was founded in 1731 by Johann Georg Messerer, a court chamberlain of the Electorate of Bavaria. It was initially named Kloster Urfahrn and dedicated to Saint Teresa. Construction, which took place between 1737 and 1747, followed the designs of the Munich court architect Johann Baptist Gunetzrhainer and was executed by Abraham Millauer and his son Philipp. The artistic decoration of the church was carried out by the Munich court painter Balthasar Albrecht.
