The Riederberg Monastery Ruin, also known as Monastery Sancta Maria in Paradyso, is a historical site in the Vienna Woods of Lower Austria. This former Franciscan Observant monastery stands today as an example of late Gothic architecture.

History+

As early as the 14th century, a St. Laurentius Church existed at this location. Around 1440, or according to other sources after 1460, Gabriel von Verona, Vicar of the Austrian monastic province, founded a Franciscan monastery here. The establishment was made possible by a donation from the Habsburgs. The single-nave, late Gothic church was dedicated to the Mother of God and Saint Laurentius. Following a fire in 1509, it underwent modifications.
