The former Franciscan foundation, Schillingsfürst Monastery, is in the town of Schillingsfürst, Bavaria. Initially a hospice, it developed into a convent and shapes the townscape.

History+

The Schillingsfürst Monastery was founded in 1673 by Christian and Ludwig von Hohenlohe. Dedicated to the Holy Cross, it initially served as a hospice before gaining the status of a convent from 1687. The Franciscan monastery was dissolved in 1822. However, the church and the associated monastery buildings were preserved. The church subsequently became the local parish church, while the former monastery buildings housed the rectory, a boys' school, and a teacher's residence.
