The origins of St. Gumbertus Monastery date back to the mid-8th century. It was consecrated to Saint Gumbert, Mary, and Salvator. Initially founded as a Benedictine monastery, it later transformed into a collegiate church. In 1533, the monastery was dissolved and secularized during the Reformation.
