The approval for the monastery's foundation was granted in April 1846 by King Ludwig I. The order's founder, Angela Fraundorfer, exchanged a family plot for a building site in Aiterhofen's parish garden. The cornerstone for the first building was laid in April 1847, and by November 1848, the first sisters could move in. In 1852, an economic building was acquired to ensure financial independence, followed by an expansion of the house and the addition of a chapel in 1860. From 1935, the order expanded with foundations in Brazil, which became its own province in 1955. During World War II, the monastery was confiscated by the National Socialists in 1941 and used as a military hospital. After the war, a new beginning started in 1946 with a girls' secondary school. In 1962, the Angela-Fraundorfer-Realschule was established, which has also admitted boys since 2014 and now has about 300 students. Since 1985, the monastery has also operated a vocational school for elderly care and elderly care assistance. Part of the former boarding school has been leased to the Malteser Hilfsdienst since 2019.
