Monastery operation

The Vierzehnheiligen Monastery is a spiritual institution in Bavaria, closely associated with the Vierzehnheiligen Basilica. It is situated near Bad Staffelstein and has long served as a destination for pilgrims and the faithful.

History+

The care of the Vierzehnheiligen pilgrimage church was originally managed by Cistercian monks from 1744 until the secularization in 1803. In 1839, King Ludwig I of Bavaria entrusted the Franciscans of the Bavarian Order Province with the responsibility for the pilgrimage site. In addition to the Franciscan monastery, the motherhouse of the St. Francis Sisters of Vierzehnheiligen was later established.
